At Twisted Scissors, we’re a small but mighty team of three - two of us are senior hair stylists and one a skilled apprentice, ready to bring your hair dreams to life. With over 18 years of experience working with clients across Brisbane, we can’t wait to transform your hair and leave you feeling more confident than ever.
Who we are…
Michelle Toms | Founder & Owner
Michelle Toms leads Twisted Scissors and runs a tight ship to ensure creativity, top-notch service and salon cleanliness is always executed at 100%. Michelle is both highly creative but also precise and technical, constantly developing her skills and honing in on her natural talents as a stylist.
Michelle has been hairdressing for over 18 years. She specialises in colour, and is an expert at adding light, dimension and structure to your hair. She excels in colour correction and has a natural ability to colour match and blend seamlessly.
Michelle has been nurturing her craft since the young age of 16 where she started out as an apprentice in a busy salon in Brisbane. Over the years Michelle has won multiple awards for her work and has enjoyed working in a variety of niches within her industry, but is now happy to be based in Algester.
Michelle’s personality and kind-heart shines through in all that she does each day, with clients that have been visiting her for over 16 years it’s safe to say Michelle knows a thing or two about making you feel at ease.
When she’s not bringing hair dreams to life in the salon, Michelle can be found relaxing at home with her husband, little boy Louis and her beloved dogs.
Karen Cole | Senior Hair Stylist
Karen Cole is the Senior Hair Stylist at Twisted Scissors who makes her clients feel calm and relaxed in her presence. Karen has been hairdressing for over 18 years and her work is a testament to her dedication to her craft.
Karen, a quiet achiever, is dedicated to her clients and flexible in her approach. Whether she’s cutting or styling kids, women or men, Karen aims to deliver an outstanding result every time.
On her days off, Karen can be found spending time with her kids and dogs with a coffee in hand, or at the beach soaking up the sunshine.
